MEET THE TEAM

Director/Dance Teacher

Kerry Duggan

Kerry is the director and founder of Southside Dance Academy and is very excited to meet all her new dancers. She started dancing when she was 2 years old with Pearl De Marco taking tap, modern and street. In her teen years she danced at Buchanan Dance Academy. It was here where Kerry became a fully qualified B.A.T.D. dance teacher at the age of 16 and then went on to teach at the school. Kerry also obtained a dance leadership qualification through YDance UK.

At University, Kerry studied a Masters in Civil Engineering whilst also attending Glasgow University DanceMania where she broadened her dance range and took classes in tap, hip-hop, commercial, bollywood, jazz, burlesque, lyrical, contemporary, highland and pom. Kerry quickly became a dance teacher at GUDM over her 5 years of uni teaching a range of dance styles such as tap, hip-hop, commercial, finale numbers, comp wildcard and comp hiphop. She was an active member of GUDM’s competition team representing the University of Glasgow in St Andrews, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Northumbria. Being a part of the GUDM committee for 4 years, taking on roles such as General Member, show convenor, Vice-President and President, Kerry has years of experience of hosting weekly dance classes, bi-annual shows, socials and fundraising events.

After University, Kerry has continued to explore her love of dance by taking numerous weekly dance classes throughout Glasgow. Aside from dance, Kerry also has experience working with young children as she has previously worked as a netball coach for primary age children at All Star Junior Netballers for 6 years.
